While the benefits of moving certain business applications to the cloud are widely understood, many organisations can be reticent to make the change – often for fear of disrupting their day-to-day processes, making an existing technology investment redundant, or risking the security of their data. With Taylor Lewis, however, the opposite was the case.
Challenge:
Indofine Logistics is a wholesaler of DHL and Fedex. Client has a great number of user base and has created a brand of its own with its customer centric and reliable services. The increased business resulted in carry forward of the day’s activities quite often. During the festive occasions it was a round the clock job for weeks together. Client realized that increasing the man power wasn’t the need of hour but automation was. The requirement was to custom build a web application that would follow the same workflow and business terms. The application was to be mobile responsive for the on-field resources. As a part of automation and enabling mobility, client on-boarding was also to be done via web link for the clients.

The first thing was to break up the tasks team wise and append the activities to the respective users. This approach enabled Deva Consultancy to build a simple yet comprehensive web application within the given timeframe. The web application with the tasks divided evenly in the teams simplified the process. The then lengthy process was now transformed to relay workflow. It was much easier for the following member to pick up the activity and hand it over to the next team. The much important client notifications with tracking numbers were automated in parallel and there was no need to have a dedicated resource. A cloud-based solution helped to avoid repetitive and unproductive time of entering the shipper and consignee details.

The ‘Turn-Around-Time’ was reduced substantially for the client. The relay workflow enabled client for the precise monitoring of each and every task. As every user was accountable for his part of the activity it grew team work within the organization. The automation also helped mitigate the human errors. The end users waiting time at the business premises was brought down. There was no carry forward of the activity which controlled the ageing activity of the task and also ensured same day dispatch of the products. The end users received auto notifications for tracking of their shipments and this elevated the overall customer experience. The printed receipts were also used to take the customer feedback online through innovative QR Code method.
