While the benefits of moving certain business applications to the cloud are widely understood, many organisations can be reticent to make the change – often for fear of disrupting their day-to-day processes, making an existing technology investment redundant, or risking the security of their data. With Taylor Lewis, however, the opposite was the case.
Client Challenge:
Omkara Hospitality inaugurated a one of its kind luxurious hostel to accommodate 300 plus students pursuing their graduation and post-graduation. Along with the responsibilities and commitments came multiple challenges. Client needed to have a single platform essentially reorganizing all the hostel activities and keeping the students and parents alongside. A simple and intuitive design was the fundamental requirement considering the vast and varied user base.

First step began with linking the web application to the already existing client website cutting down considerable time in getting the students onboard through self-registration process. The transformation process of registration saved excessive man hours spent on filling up the forms. It also enabled the end users to complete the activity remotely without being needed to appear personally at the hostel premises. The rest of the modules of admission, room allocation, finance, renewals, leave and attendance, communication, assets etc. were built using agile methodology.
Students and Parents were included in the system through native android and IOS mobile applications. Complete inclusivity of student and parent community was ensured with the mobility factor. Real time attendance notifications on the mobile apps bridged the gap between the management students and the much-concerned parents.
Result
The complete digital transformation of the process helped client reduce monthly man hours significantly. The digitization also helped client to create an inclusive and transparent environment. Extensions on the existing website gave a clear visibility to the client for setting up the business strategies. The skip meal function in the student mobile app has saved hundreds of meals from going into waste otherwise. High end user confidence and brand reputation are the by-products of the system.
